The Athlete Degree

The Athlete Degree was started to provide researched and trusted educational resources as well as conversations around being a student-athlete. Being a student-athlete is a full time job, but so much of what you are told to do doesn’t involve telling you WHY or HOW you should do it. We want to connect the dots for you to feel better connected with yourself and better prepared for sport and life after sport. You should know why you are doing things, not just told to do them. You should feel confident leaving athletics knowing you have all the tools to properly care for yourself.

The Athlete Degree was made under assumption that student-athletes may (or may not) have these tools during their time as an athlete, but are they prepared for the transition into life after sport? Whatever the answer may be, The Athlete Degree is a media platform and blog for athletes to look back on and reference with topics and tools they may relate to or need to assist their transition.

The media is filled with hypocritical information about how you “should” look, train, eat, sleep, and live your life. As athletes, you need something a little more tailored to you, that most people won’t understand. It’s not about telling you how to do something, The Athlete Degree does the research for you and provides you with resources so you can educate yourself, and feel seen as most of the world of “fitness influencers” don’t understand the pressures or needs of being a student-athlete. Think of The Athlete Degree as a big sister helping you feel prepared for sport, while also giving you the tools to transition into life after sport.

More than anything, The Athlete Degree will be a community of like-minded people searching for the same information and conversations that will hopefully connect us all so we can help each other grow in sport and life.
